Q
Your wedding is a very special occasion. You want the very best money can buy. Musical expertise is a must, but "experience" also
is key factor if you want things to go as smoothly as planned. Amoroso String Quartet has performed in over a thousand weddings, countless
venues and worked under all kinds of conditions and circumstances. You should not only expect the very highest musical quality, but
not have to worry about all the details such as when the music starts and when it ends and if the musicians know what to play and
when to play during the ceremony".
Ideally, behind the guests off to the side where the focus is on the wedding participants and not the musicans. Ultimately, it will be your call as to where you would like the group to set up.
Josef Haydn, who is credited with the "invention" of the string quartet, standardized this instrumentation consisting of two violins, one viola and one cello.
Haydn composed 68 string quartets and without them the chamber music achievements of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert--and everyone who came later--would have been unthinkable.
What instruments are in the string quartet?
The start of the ceremony will be initiated with a signal from the wedding coordinator or someone you appoint. We do arrive an hour before the ceremony, to go over the details with the appointed person.
The music will go on until the last person leaves the premises.
Our standard attire is all black, dark suit or tuxedo
The quartet must have four armless chairs in an area of at least 10' by 10'
Yes, we would be willing to play outdoors providing it isn't under precipitation or in direct sunlight. To do so would compromise the saftey of our valuable instruments.
Yes, we are often asked to perform for cocktail hour and play during dinner.
It is relaxing and makes waiting for your grand appearance much less tedious for your guests if there is approximately a half hour of prelude music prior to the start of the ceremony. If indeed, you have some favorite classical music you would like us to use, please let us know, otherwise we will be able to choose a program of beautiful, appropriate music to set the mood for your special day.
one for the seating of family members
one for the bridal party
one for the processional
possibly a short piece for the meditation or lighting of the unity candle
one for the recessional
one for the postlude (for the guests as they exit)
No, it is generally not necessary for the quartet to attend the rehearsal. We are very experienced as to knowing when to play and when to finish playing a particular piece of music with our eyes peeled on all that is going on during the wedding ceremony.
